Academic and Career Planning

 

An academic and career plan (ACP) is an academic plan that looks at the student's individual learning plan that consists of their interests, needs, learning goals, and graduation requirements. It documents a student's connections to their school and community including community service, volunteerism, hobbies and activites, and post secondary planning.

Development of an ACP involves students, parents, staff, and counselors. The plan is obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of planning skills. Activities focaus on academic, personal, social, and career development with the purpose of preparing students to be college and career ready.

Parents/Guardians are an important part of the ACP process by supporting their chield's career exploration. Parents are asked to participate in an ACP conference with their child and the school counselor during their 8th grade year. ACP conferences occur during the school day from November-May and last approximately 1 hour. This process will assist parents and their student in making informed decisions to meet their academic and career goals.
