A. Lincoln Elementary Mission Statement

     Lincoln Elementary School is a child-centered family of learners. We are comprised of an active network of students, staff, and family and community members dedicated to preparing students for success in an ever-changing world. We are committed to creating and nurturing a culture that promotes life-long learning and responsible citizenship.

B.  School Beliefs

Our School Community:  Welcomes, nurtures and empowers learning in a physically and emotionally safe environment.  Promotes active, creative, and challenging instruction and learning.  Uses authentic instruction and assessment.  Extends learning beyond the school into the community.  Respects and considers othersí needs and feelings in a diverse and cooperative atmosphere.  Communicates clearly and effectively among all its members.  Accepts new ideas.  Believes all students can learn and empowers individuals to reach their potential.  Hold high expectations and achievement standards for all students, building on a substantial knowledge base.  Is a fun and exciting place that taps into learnerís interest.  Fosters self-regulation behaviors and a strong work ethic.  Values education.

C. Key Assumptions

Lincoln Elementary will:

  1. To provide early childhood activities that will foster the development of school readiness through two extended-day kindergarten classes. 
  2. To strengthen language abilities (listening, speaking, reading, writing and thinking) among primary and intermediate through the Direct Instruction program.      
  3. To increase parental presence and involvement in school activities/functions through the use of a Community Liaison and the Twenty First Century Learning Community After-school Program. 
  4. To provide a welcoming atmosphere for parents and extended family of Lincoln Students by providing a parent center and staff development. 
  5. To encourage parents to inspire students toward lifelong learning by providing a community liaison who will facilitate parent activities. 
  6. To provide activities/programs that will build collegiality among faculty and staff in the integration of computer lessons in math with their present curriculum through staff development provided by the Jostens Computer Learning.    
  7. To in-service faculty and staff in the integration of computer lessons in math with their present curriculum through staff development provided by the Jostens Computer Learning.
  8. To provide teacher in-service to enhance understanding of the relationship of reading, writing, listening, speaking and thinking, and foster active teaching in these areas.
